The Astros have finally won their World Series after defeating the Dodgers 5-1. They finally took the game away from the Dodgers in a game that had us excited in the first inning. The Astros started off hot with 2 runs in the 1st inning with Springer and Bregman scoring off of hits from Altuve and an error from Bellinger. The Astros made sure that they put this game away early, and it sure did help towards the end when the Astros were ice cold with the bats after the 2nd inning.
The Astros had a perfect start to the game that you could ask for. Springer continued to be Springer and was able to homer. Everybody else was scored via RBI or an error. If anyone had a lock for MVP it should be Springer (This was written before the postgame award ceremony, but if I had my money it would for sure be on him.). The Astros cooled down towards the end and allowed the Dodgers to score while trying to keep a late lead. The Astros succeeded and they finally brought home the trophy to Houston, something in which we were trying to do for the last 20 years since the Rockets brought home the last championships. Houston, we finally did it. We have the trophy we have been desiring and the Astros are finally the team to bring it home. Many believed the Rockets or Texans would be the next team, but the Astros have managed to turn things around and make themselves a contender very quickly. Props to Crane and the rest of the crew for making this team a team Houston could be proud of. Some of us had our doubts, but that’s what Houston has done to us with its curse. The curse has finally been lifted.
The Astros are your 2017 MLB Champions. Get ready to party.
P.S. here is the cool Sports Illustrated photo that predicated this so long ago.
