The Astros have a bright future. Well, they even have a bright NOW. As we all know, the Astros are in the playoffs and play later this week. We hit 100 wins (2nd time in franchise history!) and seem to be back in our groove before the all-star break. The team is hitting well, and the pitching rotation has been great (besides a pitcher I think we all agree on and I don’t even have to say). What is better than seeing a young team prosper in the playoffs? Nothing. This team is built for a deep playoff run, but on the downside, have players who have little to no playoff experience, especially deep playoff experience. No matter how great of a team you are, the playoffs are always a different monster. I do believe the Astros are going to the World Series before you start to write me off as an Astros hater. I just believe the team's young players may make some easy mistakes due to the pressure they will face this postseason more than ever.
Who would’ve thought the Astros would be here about 3 years ago? Well, it seems like in place did. As you may have all seen, the SI sports cover predicted the Astros would be the 2017 World Series champs due to their process of building a super team with young talent. SI believed this team would be something special during our rebuild season, and man was they right. Remember when the Astros were the worst team in baseball in 2012? They are now one of the hottest teams in the league (if not THE hottest). They have young exciting players ready to make a difference on the plate. They have hitters who are ready to crush homers and outfielders who will make the hustle every play. This team is a different animal compared to the team last year, and even the year before. Who would’ve thought Analytics would have assembled a team like this? Well, we may have a guy down the street at the Toyota Center who probably thinks this was possible, but that’s another story. The way this team bounced back from 100 losses for about three years straight, is a feel-good win for the city of Houston and this franchise anyway. No longer are the Astros the laughing stock of the MLB. No matter the results in the playoffs, every Astros fan should be excited about the future, and for the amazing team assembled in front of them now. I’m, calling it now, I see the Astros in the world series. Now we just wait to see who they will play.
