It's A Houston Thing

SOURCES: Deshaun Watson to start Thursday against the Bengals

Posted by Devon Bennett on

According to sources, Deshaun Watson is expected to become the starting QB for the Texans on Thursday Night Football this Thursday. The move is coming after Sundays game where Deshaun replaced Tom Savage after halftime during the collapse against the Jaguars.

Watson is looking to get his first official start this week, and I couldn’t be more scared for him. How that line played on Sunday was horrible, and I don’t want Watson to be injured within a couple of plays due to horrible blocking, or lack of. Watson is mobile and athletic, which is a good trait to have, but could also get him hurt a lot easier facing LB’s past the line of scrimmage. Watson isn’t a big QB, so his body will be outmatched compared to other LB’s in the league. Watson can scramble, but I hope he doesn’t have to do it much on Thursday. Hopefully the pocket can stay open, and he can have enough time to throw the ball and become consistent with it. Savage wasn’t doing bad, which noting that all but ONE of his passes were dropped, Savage played pretty well. Savage’s issue is due to his lack of mobility in the pocket. Savage is a fast thrower, and can make decisions on the fly as shown by his 2 second average of throwing out of the pocket on Sunday. Which by the way, is VERY low. Savage isn’t able to move like Watson and that is where Watson has the edge. Savage is just in the wrong situation at the wrong time due to Duane Brown not being here and the line not being great.

Watson looks to bring the team to 1-1 after a shaky opening game at NRG on Sunday against the Jags. Do you think he could lead the team to the W? Leave your thoughts below.
