The Houston Rockets have finally found their buyer. The Rockets have reached an agreement with Houston billionaire Tillmn Fertitta to purchase the Rockets for $2.2 Billion dollars.
This is the highest that any team has been sold for in NBA history, even more than the $2Billion sale price for Steve Ballmer who bought the clippers a few years ago. Leslie has finally found his buyer after putting up the Rockets for sale in July earlier this year. Fertitta when asked about Alexander said “Leslie Alexander has been one of the best owners in all of sports, and I thank him immensely for this opportunity. He has the heart of a champion. Lastly, out of respect for the NBA's approval process, I can say no more other than I am overwhelmed with emotion to have this opportunity in my beloved city of Houston.”
Fertitta is no rookie when it comes to handling businesses as he owns many restaurants such as Landry’s, Kemah, Downtown aquarium and so much more. Tilman will be able to run the Rockets fairly well, and he seems like the best person out of all the rumored ones to take the position. Tilman is a Houston native, and a successful business man, so the Rockets made sure if they were going to sell it, they would sell it to a man like Tilman.
Alexander had bought the Rockets in 1993 for around $80 Million. Alexander has surely made a great investment, and will not have to worry about being given the short end of the tick. The Rockets are so valuable now due to 2 superstars, recent success in NBA, and of course, the location in the greatest city in Texas.
