The Rockets came in and won against the league’s raining champs, and probably the best team in the league. The Rockets managed to sneak out a 122-121-win last night in a shocking game many fans might’ve gone to sleep during. I know I almost did, but I am glad I didn’t. Harden and Eric Gordon were the two members who absolutely went off last night with dominant scoring and bounce- something I haven’t seen from both of these players in a while.
Harden finished with 27 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds. He was 10-23 from the field including 4-9 from 3pt land. Harden looked his best today from anything we might’ve seen in pre-season. He has finally shown up behind the arc, whereas in the pre-season was not able to hit the basket at all. Eric Gordon was able to provide a HUGE spark off the bench throwing in 24 points with 9.16 FG shooting. Eric came in the game and instantly provided a spark. The most underrated Rocket that played yesterday was PJ Tucker. My oh my is he going to be a great player for our team. When the comparisons of PJ being a pure 3&D player were circling, I reviewed some tape and knew his defense was there. His 3pt shooting would need to improve. I don’t know what happened, but D’Antoni put some black magic/Voodoo on him because he was lights out scoring 20 points with a 4-6 3PT shooting. For a defensive minded forward being able to shoot and space this well, it is something the Rockets have been needed for a while. A Moute was also very great scoring only 14 points but shot at a very high percentage to become an efficient scorer and defender. This game made me really excited for the future of this team, and we are officially in win now. We have the parts, and CP3 didn’t even score much (now he did great with 11 assists and 8 Rebounds) which won’t happen very often. CP3 needs some time to adjust, but he will be contributing soon.
The Rockets were able to take down the champs at their place on opening night. Most Rockets fans that stayed up were shocked and very excited for the future. I know I am.
