James Harden has been excellent the past two games that CP3 and Capela have been out. Luc has been dealing with his shoulder injury still, and his timetable is still around 2 more weeks. After these past two games, we can comfortably say that James Harden needs his help back fast to compete with other teams and stay in the top 2 seeds.
CP3 is day to day according to Mike D’Antoni alongside Capela. Harden is the second player in history to lose back to back games after dropping over 50 in those games. Wilt Chamberlain is the other player to do this with Harden. It is definitely a shocker that Harden has dropped two 50+ games as he was previously 6-0 with them entering against the Lakers.
The Rockets have proven that they need more than just James Harden to allow them to have a chance with even the bottom feeder teams in the western conference. While Harden was missing 3 of his top players, the team still looked like they were not able to get it together, minus Harden as he looked deadlier than ever before. Chris Paul is a huge help coming off the bench this team as he brings the scoring and facilitating that the team needs while Harden is on the bench taking his break (which was limited during these past two games CP3 has been out). It shows how reliant the Rockets are on their secondary playmakers and how much they need them to succeed, to not only take on a team like the Warriors but to also take on non-playoff teams in the West. These last few games have brought out many haters on Harden, and I believe he deserves a pass as his 50 points were efficient and not just shot jacking like some other superstars in the league.
CP3 and Capela are still considered day-to-day so hopefully, their injuries will be healed soon enough. Capela seems to be on track for an appearance on Christmas versus the Thunder, but CP3 has yet to have a definite timetable set by Mike D’Antoni.
