James Harden has developed tremendously on the court, and off the court since he was traded to the Rockets in 2012. Harden recently got done with his first ever James Harden H-Town Weekend, and it was a success for not only Harden, but for the charities around Houston in which all of the proceeds went too. James Harden has shown he has been committed to Houston since he signed his contract over the summer, and having community drives to help Houston. Harden has finally found a home in which he wants to make better.
James Harden has not been camera shy this summer, as he has been vocal about what events he’s hosting, or even recruiting his friend CP3 to the Rockets. Harden has matured more than we noticed throughout the years. Harden use to be the guy who wasn’t the leader of this team, and would be seen as the 2nd leader behind Dwight Howard. In the 2016 41-41 disaster season, Harden took a step up and tried to become a leader, but ultimately might have done more damage than he intended. That Is not the same story this year as the Rockets have found their leader in James Harden who is 100% committed to this team and everything they do. Harden loves the community, which he recently just donated $100,00 to TSU, and hopes to be able to retire here. This is the first icon in the Houston basketball side of things who has shown this kind of dedication to a city, and its community. We as fans sometimes are mad at Harden’s performances in the playoffs, or even regular season games. While we are hard on him, he works on his game every day, and preforms off court with the community.
Harden is everything you need in a player. I WILL compare him to JJ Watt as a perfect off field role player, and a perfect leader on the field. Harden has stepped up and taken the leader role, and has done well since his first season as the lone superstar on the Rockets. He has taken the role off the field and has been involved with the community just like JJ Watt. He is everything Houston has needed in a superstar basketball player in a while. James Harden has matured since his days where we would go out and party every day, and be on boats across the world.
Harden Is what the city of Houston needs, and we should all be thankful for what he has done recently for the community. If Harden’s comments about wanting to retire in the city of Houston are true, we will see Harden here for a lot longer. Get ready for more JH-Town weekends, more public appearances, and more donations towards charities in the Houston area. I know I will probably speak for everyone when I say this, but James, we appreciate you.
