It's A Houston Thing

Carmelo Anthony Hopes To Be A Rocket By Monday

Posted by Devon Bennett on

New information has been found out about Carmelo Anthony’s camps wishes. According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, Carmelo and his family/ camp are “cautiously optimistic” that a deal will be done by Monday. This deal would send the star SF to the Houston Rockets, in exchange for Ryan Anderson, and more players to be found out about on a later date.

With this new information surfacing, many have started to get excited again. Its officially Melo watch all over again, and more news is starting to pile in. The Knicks open up their camp and their media next week (so do all the other teams), and this is possibly why Carmelo would like to be dealt by then. Melo wants to be on a new team by the time training camp and media day starts. He probably doesn’t want to answer countless questions asking the same thing over and over again about the Rockets, and his trade situation. I know Melo is tired of the whole situation, and so are most Rockets fans. The Knicks are hesitant on taking Ryan Andersons 60 million contract over the next 3 seasons due to financial obligations. They don’t want to commit long term to another contract they might have to trade later on. It makes sense as the Knicks have some bad contracts on their roster already, and don’t want to hold another one while they try to rebuild. Anthony currently has a no trade clause and has only stated he wants to play with the Rockets, and no other team this year. Melo is set in Houston, but the Knicks simply won’t let him just yet.

If the Knicks and Rockets can work out a deal before then, I know many people will start getting ready to hang a championship banner in Toyota Center.
