Carmelo seems to want out of New York quick, and that might not be a good sign for Houston. Melo has recently informed the Knicks that he has expanded his teams of wanting to be traded to which includes the Cavaliers and the Thunder. Melo currently has a no trade clause which allows him to pick his preferred destinations.
Melo was set on Houston throughout the summer when CP3 arrived. With the Knicks and Rockets unable to gain traction on a deal, Melo has grown frustrated with his organization and has expanded his list of teams in hopes of being traded by Monday. The Cavs seem like a good destination for Melo to land since It would be a confirmed finals trip. I don’t believe the Cavs have the assets to give up the deal, and if I’m Cleveland I’m not trading Kevin Love for Melo straight up. The Cavs also have to worry about their future if LeBron decides to leave this offseason. The main hope is the Cavs can issue a deal with bench players and maybe a late pick to make the salaries match to make the deal happen. The Rockets are still Melo’s preferred destination, but with the two sides unable to make a trade, their chances of landing him seem lower and lower after every report. Hopefully a deal can be struck soon to land the Forward in Houston, but time is ticking, and Morey is not going to ruin this team’s future for Melo. I don’t see him trading EG, Zhou, or any of our bench role players for Melo as of this moment.
Hopefully a deal can be made, but Melo has his mind set on leaving the Knicks by Monday for sure.
