The Astros just knocked off the Red Sox today winning 5-4! The Astros started off very shaky at the beginning of the game, then started to come back at the very end. Maybe this team is just too clutch. Verlander came in for his first ever relief appearance and he let a run happen. Reddick got a game-saving RBI right at the end to save and put the Astros up 4-3. Beltran had a great hit at the end of the game which brought back “Playoff Beltran” again. That brought the game up to 5-3 with an RBI double.
Using Verlander was a wise and unwise decision that we can’t really look into until next series depending on how we are playing with our pitching. If we can handle the games without him for using him a little too early, it would have been a wise decision by Hinch. Hopefully, with the number of pitches Verlander did today, he can be used for Game 1 of the next series.
The Astros are hot and I hope they keep getting hotter! Hopefully, this team can keep the mojo from games 1-2 going rather than game 3-4. Strikeouts have been a problem the last few games, but let's hope this team can rest and get ready for the next series to be the elite team we thought they would be all playoffs. This team is great, but they have also shown us some bad spots as well. And for us being a Houston team, that does not help us much either.. I’m sure we all know about the “Houston curse” that has been going around the past few years. Let’s hope this is the year we break it.
